The art of “Work in Hand” training in the old tradition of the great masters such as Nuno Oliviera, Joao Oliviera, Jean-Claude Racinet and Master Luis Valencia of Portugalhttp://www.celg.pt/centro_equestre/luis_valenca2_eng.htm is the art that William Sanders has mastered and continues to practice and teach at his Academy for Baroque Equitation in Norco, California. Mr. Sanders teaches classical horsemanship on his Schoolmaster Lusitano stallions, all of which he trained in the lateral work, Piaffe, Passage; Spanish walk, multiple flying changes etc. Once a student of Jean-Claude Racinet and for the past 10 years a student of Master Luis Valencia, Mr. Sanders’ passion is evident as he passes on what he has learned to continue the tradition of “work in hand” to those who strive to bring their horses to lightness.
- Learn how to make your horse calm, correct and light in the hand before you even ride.
- Learn flexions, the correct position of the horse, work in single and double reins; the counted walk and all the basics through the beginning of advanced work in the lateral movements will be taught and demonstrated.
You will also be introduced to the HAND-SADDLE HAND METHOD OF FRITZ STAHLECKER www.hsh-fritz-stahlecker.de. This is a method in which a young horse is started in hand and worked with no bit contact (although carrying the bit) and trained with all the correct work, lateral moves, canter and even canter pirouette in hand before the horse is ever ridden.
