THE ACADEMY OF BAROQUE EQUITATION

Above are pictures of some training shots of my Pure Puerto Rican Stallion Legolas , trained in the classical Baroque manner . He is a giant of a Paso Fino at almost 16 hands . Here he is doing a FINO gait in hand , some true Piaffe steps brought about through the use of the counted diagonal walk used to get the horses pelvis tipped , the back and withers up , note the desent of the reins . The horse maintining this lite balance is then asked to go forward in true Fino Lateral gait while maintaining the desent of the hand . A few steps of Shoulder in are also shown in hand , the horse now executes the lateral  moves also in gait. Horses trained in the old style of the Masters can execute the gaits with the lightest of contact and perform al;l of the lateral gaits of the trotting horse , improving strength , balance and gait .

At right one can see Nilo in Passage and the fact he is in self carriage.  This is what we are looking to first  obtain  with our horses . They must carry themselves lightly  so the rider can also relax.  In the second picture is Nilo and Bill in Travers. Again the horse is in self carriage .
Here I am on Lebrerio and as you can also see here in the school trot he is carrying himself with the decent of the hands . Here this work is not just talk but we practice what we teach.
