Bit
Here as promised is the first look at my new Rassembler™ Masters double bridle bit unit . This is a truly unique bit designed from a very old masters bit with my improvements . You must look closely here . First note that because the curb and snaffle are only attached to ONE cheek piece , they ALLWAYS stay in the same relevant position to each other . Once the cheek piece is buckled correctly, the adjustment of the two bits is automatic .
Unlike a Pellham that simulates in some ways the action of a double bridle , here you have two separate bits that have all the independence and finesse of a normal double bridle . The high quality mylar bradoon works independently through the slotted hangers . Note it has a swivel in the middle and does not form a point in the horses mouth when used . If a little more pressure is needed on the snaffle the hangers come into play like a full cheek snaffle and exert extra guiding and controlling action . This also prevents the snaffle from ever being pulled through the horses mouth .
Further the automatic adjustment of the unit completely prevents a horse from having his tongue pinched between the bits as is too frequently the case where two separate headpieces are used . While the port looks high let me assure you that I have worked with dozens of different combinations on all of my horses from my superb high school Pasos through the finest of my highly trained Lusitanos . In EVERY case this combination of "S" shank length and port design led to a vastly lighter and better performing horse . This bit is in the finest baroque tradition . Here is a clue . If you have a finely made Curb , you ride with the snaffle reins a tad shorter . if the horse bears on the hand at all you simply touch the curb . Once the horse ASSOCIATES the curb with the snaffle it becomes feather light to the snaffle .
Using a curb that requires more force defeats the purpose of eventually having a feather light and correct horse . EVERYONE who has ridden on this design , even if you place a pile of bits in front of them has wound up saying this one feels the best and ALL of my horses are wonderfully comfortable with it . The "S" shank curb and the light hand of the master rider where the earmarks of the classical Baroque period. To me watching so called humane snaffles that bear like a nutcracker on the poor horses mouth while the rider holds up the horse as it bears down on this bit is an abomination to good riding . Return to the time the great riders mastered the curb and ALL of the old pictures that are so cherished show this clearly .
This bit also has a rotation of the shanks that give a clear way to work each side of the horse as needed without yanking on the other side and facilitate mounted and un mounted Jaw flexions . This is hand made with over 8 hours of work put into each custom bit . If desired, a lower port mouth piece can be ordered to suit your needs. However, you might want to give this one a try first.
Send the measurements of each bit that you want (Bradoon and curb, same size as what you now use ) with payment of $280.00 plus $10.00 postage and handling to William Sanders 2655 Sierra Ave , Norco Ca 92860 USA. Soon I hope to offer a special Baroque glove soft Bridle and reins to complete the set . |
